Max Joosten joined the Unequal Democracies project as a Ph. D. candidate after completing a Research Master's in Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. Max is part of the Unequal Democracies research group that focuses on the question of unequal political representation. Combining cross-national quantitative analysis with more qualitative analysis of policy-making, his Ph. D. project explores the consequences of budgetary constraints on government responsiveness to the preferences of different social groups.
